The Plato team finally found out what the collective noun for a group of MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) was this week. It appears to be ‘a success’!
Plato:Sustain and Basingstoke group member Rediweld Rubber & Plastics Ltd based in Alton, were delighted to host the visit from a delegation of committee members of the Regional Development Committee (REGI), which included UK MEP Catherine Bearder. Keen to explore the successes and challenges that European funded projects face both in the bidding stages and in managing the project, the delegation visited only a handful of South East based projects to take a closer look and speak to the project leaders.
The visitors heard from Roger Marsh, MD of Rediweld, about the challenges his company had with embedding sustainability into the business and how fundamental to their growth strategy embracing sustainable practice has been.
The group of 7 MEPs, from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Ireland and the UK enjoyed a tour of the Rediweld factory to better understand how sustainability works in practice followed by an opportunity to speak to Roger in more detail and the Plato team; particularly about the challenges faced by managing organisations.
It was also a great opportunity to highlight the wider spectrum of work we do as an organisation
